Motor oil is leaking from the oil cooler/filter housing. Oil has puddled in the engine valley and run down the back of the engine and transmission bell housing. Vehicle smells like hot motor oil and oil level was low.

Oil cooler housing on my 3.6 l pentastar engine, which is made of plastic, has developed a crack causing motor oil to leak onto the engine and transmission. There could be a potential for a fire. Dealer has these on back order. This part used to be made of metal on prior models and was not an issue. Sounds to me that this part should be redesigned.
