Brought my 2012 jeep grand cherokee to the dealership that i purchased it from 6 months prior for an oil change. When picking it up they told me there was a significant leak and handed me a quote to replace the power steering rack for 1700 dollars. Not what i wanted to hear from a certified vehicle i purchased with less than 50000 miles.

My 2012 jeep grand cherokee had low levels of power steering fluid after replacing the power steering pump, so i returned the vehicle to the dealership and was informed the power steering rack and pinion would also need complete replacement. The jeep had 80k miles.

At 40 thousand miles the rack and pinion need replaced. There is a leak coming from this part. I was notified during an oil change that the repair isn't normal and would cost $1,200. Went in to get an oil change today and found out my jeep's steering rack is leaking. The car has 51,000 miles and they said it shouldn't be leaking already. From what i've learned this seems to be a faulty part and not due to poor maintenance of the vehicle, i just purchased it 4 months ago so i know i did not cause the problem.
