The heat on the passenger side of the jeep is blowing cold air in winter, even when it is set to maximum heat. The dealer told me that there is a service bulletin on the blend door and they want over $700 dollars to fix it. My question is if they know there is a problem with it from design how come they don't fix it for free and why should i pay for it when they knew they sold me a bad design. Also now the ac is…

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
The hvac blend doors on my 2002 jeep grand cherokee (wj) overland failed at approximately 88, 000 miles causing a loss of heat and defrost abilities. Due to the construction of the vehicle it will require a trained mechanic a quoted seven hours of labor to replace a plastic part which has failed. I believe this is a safety hazard, the loss of defrost ability, that jeep manufactures have been aware of and that a…

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
2002 jeep grand cherokee blowing cold air. I had this looked by the dealer and they said that they needed to replace hvac sub assemblies. They quoted me $1000 to have this fixed. After researching this problem online, it appears that this is a common problem for 2002 (plus other model years) jeep grand cherokees. *jb

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
In the fall of 2007, the heat on the passenger side of 2002 jeep grand cherokee stopped working. I did some online research and this problem was so common that i easily found plenty of people with the exact same problem that were able to self-diagnose the problem using the jeeps internal computer to output the system faults. Using the same method to enter the azc self-diagnostic mode, the climate control display…

I own a 2002 jeep grand cherokee overland edition with dual climate zones. When the heat is on, passenger side vents blow cold air. Driver side vents blow warm air. In looking on jeepforum.com, it appears that this is happening to most people who own this type of vehicle. It is a known blend door issue. *tr

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
I purchased my 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited 2 years ago, and 6 months ago, the passenger side blend door actuator died as well as broke the blend door itself upon inspection. This is a problem as it takes removal of the entire dashboard, draining and refilling the ac system and draining and refilling the antifreeze. I spent greater than 10 hours working on the problem. This is not just an isolated incident as…

Events leading up to failure: normal usage of vehicle cabin comfort and safety controls (air conditioning/demister) systems. Failure: cabin air conditioning system now does not regulate temperature. The system cannot be made to use hot or cold air on demand. In investigating this failure, it has come to my attention that 99% of all other owners of this vehicle report experiencing a failure of the 'temperature blend…

My 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited edition suv has had a significant failure in the hvac unit. The passenger side vents only blow out cold air, as if the air conditioner was on, but the temperature is set on high. The driver side vents blow out air according to the controls but the speed of the air is weak, even though the controls are set on high. *nm

Driving through another state in sub-zero temperatures, my heater immediately and without notice, stopped working in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee. I could not proceed further, as i had in the vehicle older people who would be too susceptible to the cold. I took it to a dealer who told me they have fixed over 16 of these problems with the blend doors at $1000 for the cost to fix it. *nm

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
I too have purchased one of the junk vehicles with it's un-usable extended warranty. My passenger side heat went out first and now all my heat is gone. I don't feel this complaint has been looked at by anyone when it is clearly a safety hazard to drive in inclement weather. All of us who have been duped by chrysler should get together and start a class action lawsuit against chrysler. I do know one thing for sure.…

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
My 2002 jeep grand cherokee first lost heat on the passenger side, then a few months later the drivers side heat would not work as well. I was told by my mechanic that the blend doors actuators were not working and would have to be replaced at the cost of $800-$1000. I have been told this is a very common problem. I think this should be a recall issue. Please advise. *jb

Defroster/Defogger/Hvac System
The heat in my 2002 jeep grand cherokee limited (72,500 miles) stopped distributing heat. First the heat stopped on the passenger side, then a few weeks later, the heat failed everywhere. I had to get the blender doors, actuator, heater core and evaporator replaced. The cost of the repair at a jeep dealership cost nearly $1,500. I've heard this is a common problem on this model jeep. *nm
